Tippmann 98 Custom Pro Basic w/ A.C.T. (Anti-Chop Technology)

If it’s accuracy and deeper strikes you want, this beefed-up version of Tippmann’s 98 Custom will help you make your mark. The Custom Pro comes standard with such upgrades as an 11-inch, high-performance, stone-honed barrel for better accuracy, a double trigger that delivers better control and faster firing, and a drop forward that positions the air tank in a more convenient spot. The fully customizable semiautomatic marker is also compatible with Tippmann’s accessory arsenal, including the Flatline barrel system, the sniper barrels, the vertical adapter kit, the Response trigger system, the collapsible stock, and the rear-cocking system, among many others. Want to create a paintball marker that represents your style, your game, and your creativity? Look no further.
The Tippmann 98 Custom Pro is made of die-cast aluminum with an extra-sturdy black finish. More significantly, the marker boasts Tippmann’s Anti-Chop Technology (A.C.T.), a system consisting of a rear bolt, front bolt, and linkage arm with movements dictated by the location of a paintball in the chamber prior to firing.

If a paintball is fed correctly, the system’s front bolt and rear bolt travel together–connected by the linkage arm–to fire the ball. However, if a ball is lodged inside the chamber incorrectly, the system moves the bolts independently until the lodged ball falls into position. Once the ball is back in place, the marker cycles itself to discharge the ball at normal velocity. Not only does the A.C.T. system prevent stalls and “blowback” (a sudden release of trapped air into the hopper), but it also maintains shot velocity, as the cycle speed never changes. It’s a must for the serious paintball enthusiast. If it’s accuracy and deeper strikes you want, this beefed-up version of Tippmann’s 98 Custom will help you make your mark. User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Best gun for the money
This is the best paintball gun for a new player. The barrel on the custom pro is worth the extra money. It will give you a little more distance and accuracy over a stock 98 barrel. ACT is great. I haven’t chopped a ball yet. This gun from amazon.com is the same price as a standard 98 custom from WalMart and you don’t pay tax.

5 Stars Love the Custom Pro
I love this marker! If I were to do it all over again I would by a Tippmann Custom Pro in a heartbeat. It’s durable, reliable, low maintainence, and works like a champ on HPA. My paintball buddies have several different types of markers including several PMI’s and a couple A5’s, and ALL of them have had problems while the guys with Custom 98/Pro’s just keep playing. I would recommend getting a Rocket Cock II as the first upgrade, but other than that the stock Custom Pro is an excellent recreational marker. My _only_ complaint is the 98 is an air hog (but we just bought a scuba tank so that no longer matters )

5 Stars Received in Great Condition
Product was in great condition and was shipped in a timely manner. We are very pleased with our product.

5 Stars Good all-over marker
This gun is a very good all-over marker. Tippmann makes some of the most durable markers, which is also the reason why many paintball places rent out Tippmann marker. This marker is no exception. I played 2-3 hour, shot over 1000 paintballs(in that one hour, and yeah i know its a waste of paintballs but its fun), and not even one of them broke in the marker. I also have another marker that a friend borrowed. He broke about 20 paintballs the few hours we played(this was not a tippmann marker!).

This gun is a very good choice for players that want to mainly play woodsball but also try speedball. For only speedball, you might want to consider another tippmann marker or a maker with better bps(balls per second), but i will highly recommend that you get your marker with ACT(Anti Chop Technology). With ATC you dont break paintballs as easily as you do without when you play.

Good choice that i absolutely did not regret!

5 Stars ACT actually makes a difference!
I have a friend with a T98 that doesnt have ACT, and his gun chops balls every now and then, while mine has NEVER chopped any balls! (and I’ve shot a few thousand rounds with this). I’ve modded the gun to look like an AK47, and I must say that I’m very proud of it.

One thing to mention. The Amazon website recommends a certain stock to buy with this gun in a combo deal (as of Jan 07). THESE PARTS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH EACH OTHER!!! I e-mailed amazon about this and never got a reply (thanks jerks!) Thankfully I just sold the stock to my friend with the other T98. So the moral of the story here is that if you are ever looking for a stock for this gun, look for one that specifically states that it is made for Tippmann 98s WITH ACT!!!!! Otherwise the stock wont fit!

Bottom line: If you want a decent gun to start paintballing with, just shell out the cash for one of these, you’ll thank yourself when you get addicted to paintballing and want to modify the beast.
